The Design

The OSSEV^® is designed to be slightly smaller than the mk4 Mazda MX-5 but with more interior space, due to more flexibility with the layout. The vehicle will comfortably accommodate drivers up to 6'4" (193cm) tall. More interior space will allow a wide range of seat options but the standard seats will be "sporty" and supportive for your average sized driver.

The goal is for the car to weigh less than 1000Kg with the base level battery. The aim is to get closer to 900kg though. The target is also a front/rear weight distribution that is close to 50:50 with a driver onboard.

We want this car to be easy to live with as well as being fun:

• Good ground clearance in normal setup, with great all-round visibility.
• Advanced climate control for all-year round use.
• A removeable, waterproof targa top roof, that can be stowed inside the car.
• Electric rear window and side windows, to enable a fully immersive roof-down driving experience.
• A decent boot that also has space for a full size spare wheel and tyre.
• Front & rear integrated dashcam which also functions as a reversing camera and enables dynamic cruise control.

The sports EV will reach 60mph from a standstill in less than 5.5 seconds and be capable of more than 100mph. The focus is on dynamic ability and driver involvement, rather than supercar performance.

Showing photos of similar cars to what we have in mind does not really work very well. None of them quite get close enough. The plan is to produce some initial renderings very soon. The focus is on gorgeous curves with a sleek profile. Aerodynamics are less of a priority in a car that is designed for fun and not speed. We want to build a car that people want to be seen in though.
